Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that Android TV is a smart TV platform developed by Google that runs the newest Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. It was announced at the Google I/O in June and is Google’s latest attempt to create an interactive television experience – and what is nice is you can control it via an App on your smartphone, Android Wear smartwatch or even with verbal commands. The system can be built into your Smart TV, much like Samsung’s, or it can be a standalone set-top box. What is great is you will have total access to the Google Play Store to download Apps – Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, games and a whole lot more.
Google has just announced the first batch of apps launching on Android TV and Nexus Player on November 3 and Haystack TV is one of the selected apps for the launch. Building on its early success with Google’s Chromecast, Haystack TV is partnering with Google to bring its personalized news service to the new Android TV platform. The new Android 5.0 Lollipop with its Material Design is a big step for Google to bring consistent design across all platforms. Haystack TV wants to leverage this across phones, tablets, PCs and connected TVs. The Nexus Player will be supported by Haystack TV from day one with its 24/7 HD news channel – personalized by the user, designed by you based on your interests.
Haystack TV allows users to break away from the normal network and cable news stations and their many commercials – cable cutters will love the opportunity to watch news, but news that they are interested in viewing. Working much Flipboard and other customizable news services – you pick the topics that peak your interests and it will find and present them to you whenever you open up Haystack TV’s app. The more you use it the more it ‘learns’ about your tastes as you pick and choose certain stories to read – the selects continue to get ‘smarter,’ and you will always have something new to watch.
Haystack TV will allow you to stay current with – local, national and international news, highlights from your favorite MLB, NFL and NBA, celebrity news and entertainment, business and finance news, the latest tech news on gadgets, cars and much more. How about getting your latest video games updates and release announcements…and even get your favorite late night laughs from Fallon, Kimmel and Conan. Haystack TV is also Google Cast ready, so you can always cast things on the big screen as well.
