Google has announced new Nexus hardware last month alongside the newest version of company’s operating system, Android 5.0 Lollipop. HTC-made Nexus 9 was one of the announced devices, a tablet which brings HTC’s build quality and BoomSound speakers our way alongside the Android 5.0 Lollipop. Many of us have been waiting for this to happen and now it finally has. It seems like tons of people want to get their hands on Google’s newest tablet considering HTC is forced to boost production capacity. Jack Tong, HTC North Asia president, said that the Nexus 9 demand is so strong that the company has to expand its production capacity. Tong said that HTC received an impressive amount of pre-orders for the tablet and that it will enjoy great success in the market, just like its predecessor. HTC Nexus 9 is more expensive than both Nexus 7 devices were at launch, that’s because Google is aiming for the high-end market this time around, both with the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9. Anyhow, Mr. Tong also announced that HTC will unveiled their own tablet in 2015 while adding that the company will carefully consider how to approach the market, in other words, which size should the device be and whether to release a mid-range or a high-end product.
HTC Nexus 9 is really a beastly piece of technology. The device comes sporting an 8.9-inch 2K (2048 x 1536) IPS LCD display along with 2GB of RAM for all your multitasking needs and either 16 or 32GB of non-expandable internal storage, depending on the model you get. This tablet is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra K1, a 64-bit dual-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz which comes with Kepler DX1 GPU for graphics rendering. On the back of the device, you’ll find an 8-megapixel camera and a LED flash while there’s a 1.6-megapixel shooter located on the front of this tablet. Nexus 9 ships with a non-removable 6700mAh battery while Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this device. Nexus 9 measures 228.2 x 153.7 x 7.9mm and weighs 425 grams (Wi-Fi model) / 436 (3G/LTE model). Nexus 9 has a nice metallic frame and looks really great overall, at least in my humble opinion, I love a good industrial looking / minimalistic piece of hardware. The device is also pretty thin at 7.9mm and HTC’s BoomSound speakers are also a part of this package.
