Although today is technically Nexus 9 day it also seems Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge is grabbing quite a few of the headlines. The Note Edge news started this morning when AT&T announced the Edge would be in shops (on show) from November 7th although would not go on sale until November 14th. What was more interesting though was the Note Edge would be priced at the astronomical $945.99 off contract with AT&T. Even on-contract the device is quite steep coming in at $400. Since then Sprint also joined in announcing they too would be selling the Edge form November 14th although their off contract price was a little more reasonably priced at $840. Even more accessible was Sprint noted the device could be purchased with $0 down and instead 24 monthly payments of $35 which again equates to $845 making the purchase interest free.
Not one to be left out, T-Mobile have also now announced that they too will be selling the Edge from November 14th. However in contrast to AT&T and Sprint the T-Mobile announcement was far less informative with no details provided on price, cost or plans. Instead, the announcement came in the form of a registration page on the T-Mobile site where you can sign up to receive further details as and when T-Mobile announce them. That said though it is highly unlikely the cost of the device will be greatly different from those quoted by AT&T and Sprint and so you should be looking at somewhere near the $900 off-contract price. In terms of on-contract it is also highly likely this will be somewhat competitive with what AT&T quoted at the $400 marker.
Need a quick reminder on what you get for close to $1000? Well, obviously the Edge is dubbed the ‘Edge’ due to its curved display which allows easy viewing of notifications and apps on a secondary display on the side. Other more traditional specs include a 5.6″ Super AMOLED display (2560×1440 resolution). Inside you get a 2.7GHz Quad-core processor and 3GB RAM. Memory comes in the form of 32GB as standard along with a microSD card slot. In terms of cameras you get a 16 MP rear camera and a 3.7MP front shooter. The device will come running on Android 4.4 (KitKat) and powered by a 3000mAh battery. So how do you feel at paying close to a $1000 for the Note Edge? Does Sprint undercutting by $100 sway you towards them? Whatever your thoughts let us know.
