If you’re still on the hunt for a tablet there are many to choose from. The Google Nexus 9 has just released and you can get it in either a 16GB model or a 32GB model. If you’re not happy with some of the first impressions that people have been leaving about the device and have considered looking at other options, the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is now one of those possible options for you to look at. It’s an 8-inch slate so it’s a bit smaller than the Nexus 9, but it comes with some pretty impressive specifications and Sony has just announced today that it is available on the U.S Sony store for just $499.
Arguably, the Google Nexus 9 comes in at $100 less and comes with bigger screen, as well as a monster of a processor with the Nvidia Tegra K1 CPU. The Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact though offers up a CPU that is certainly no slouch, which is important especially if you’re wanting one for the capability of using the PS4 remote play feature. It comes packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU clocked at 2.5GHz, so it will definitely be able to handle what ever tasks or gaming sessions you throw at it. It also comes complete with Sony’s renowned waterproofing and 3GB of RAM. The $499 model comes with 32GB of storage and is WiFi only, and is powered by a 4500 mAh battery.
The Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact only comes in White, at least for what’s available through the U.S. Sony store, so there is a lack of color choices when it comes to this as opposed to other devices. If that doesn’t really matter to you however, then the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact begs for your attention. The 8-inch TRILUMINOS display will make whatever you’re doing on it look good, and it comes with the capability to expand on the internal memory, with the option to add up to a 128GB microSD card just in case 32GB of storage isn’t enough for your needs. $499 isn’t the cheapest tablet out there, but Sony tends to make some great quality devices so the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is likely worth every penny.
