Verizon, Sprint And Cat 6 Models Of Galaxy Note Edge Get Certified by The GCF

Galaxy Note Edge is kind of a prototype device from Samsung which the company launched back at IFA in September. This Korea tech giant launched this handset alongside their Galaxy Note 4 phablet, Gear S smartwatch and Gear VR virtual reality headset. Samsung’s prime device here is Galaxy Note 4, no doubt about that. The handset didn’t even launch in many regions in the world and is already selling like crazy, though that isn’t all that surprising, Samsung finally addressed the build material quality in order to improve its build quality. Galaxy Note 4 (and basically all of Samsung’s recent devices) include metal in their build, which makes them look and feel more premium. Galaxy Note Edge is, as I already mentioned, a prototype device. This strange handset sports a curved “Edge” screen on the right side of the phone which acts as a separate panel from the main screen. It has it own set of features and Samsung hopes this concept might actually sell, especially considering the Galaxy Note Edge has all Galaxy Note 4 software features included in the OS, S Pen stylus is also a part of the package.

All four major US carriers confirmed that the Note Edge will be a part of their lineup, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile versions already passed through the FCC and now the Note Edge also paid a visit to the GCF. Global Certification Forum (GCF) is a partnership between smartphone manufacturers and mobile network operators. This is a certification program that ensures global interoperability between mobile devices and network. Well, International model with Cat.6 support and Verizon and Sprint Galaxy Note Edge models with Cat.4 support paid a visit to the GCF’s database. We still don’t know the exact release date for the device in the US, but this is a great sign, it means the launch is close. Rumors have been saying that the device might launch mid-November (on at least one US carrier) and that seems quite likely at this point. As a reminder, Galaxy Note Edge features a 5.6-inch 2K Super AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor.
