There have been many interesting devices launched this year. We had the flagship killer, the OnePlus One and we also had the next Google incarnation in the form of the Google Nexus 6. However, one of the most interesting photos that hit the market this year was the one offered by Amazon. You probably know this one. The Amazon Fire Phone. Unfortunately, for Amazon, this is one of the most interesting phones for all the wrong reasons. The device which was supposed to introduced Amazon firmly into the major smartphone market crashed into the market as one of the biggest flops of this year. So much so that Amazon Senior Vice President David Limp even admitted that it was a failure.
That said, Amazon are not fazed by its failure. In fact, at the beginning of the month Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos made the announcement that the Fire Phone won’t be a one-hit wonder. Instead, Amazon is fully committed to trying again (and again if needs be). As far as Bezos is concerned the first Fire Phone was merely a learning curve and Amazon seem intent on making sure they do bring to market a viable smartphone. That said, if you were interesting in seeing what Amazon can bring to the table next then you will be waiting some time it seems.
According to Venturebeat (source link below), several sources close to the situation have told them that Amazon have been working on a second-generation Fire Phone for some months. However, due to the failure of the first generation, Amazon have become hesitant in releasing the next model. Instead, they have gone back to the drawing board, looking to make sure the next variation of the Fire Phone contains the right features to draw the customers in. In fact, they latest news is that the second-generation fire phone is very unlikely to land until 2016. This in itself seems to be proof enough that Amazon are determined not to make the same mistakes. So what do you think? Is the second time a charm? Will Amazon get the FFirePhone features (and price) right this time? Or do you think it will inevitably be another flop? Let us know what you think.
