Amazon Prime membership is one of those all-encompassing subscription services which seems to be getting better and better as time goes on. It pretty much works out to be a similar cost to Netflix and for that you get a similar feature to Netflix in Amazon Prime Instant Video. That said, the selection (of free content) is probably not as good as that on Netflix. However, unlike Netflix. Prime comes with some added benefits like Amazon Instant Music and probably the most popular feature, free two-day Prime shipping on a number of Amazon products. In fact, if you are in the UK and a Prime member, then the delivery is even faster with one-day free Prime delivery. However, if you are a Prime member and currently living in Manhattan, then both the US two-day and UK one-day shipping times are a thing of the past.
If you do not want to wait for shipping and want those goods now, then do not worry as Amazon this morning have introduced ‘Prime Now’. Yes, Amazon today, unveiled their latest addition to the Prime service in the guise of Prime Now. In short, this offers Prime members the ability to receive deliveries within one hour of ordering. At present, there is a charge for the one-hour delivery which comes in at $7.99. That said, if you are patient enough to wait two hours for your delivery (and let’s face it, everyone is), then you can get the two-hour delivery for free as part of your Prime membership. Currently, the variety of products available to purchase as part of Prime Now are limited, although Amazon still claim there are tens of thousands of products included. Most seem to be household or grocery based for now, although, it does seem some non-basic products like Beats Headphones are available.
If you want to give Prime Now a go, then you do need to be based in Manhattan for now. It is expected the service will roll out in other cities soonish.
