Ah, Lollipop, Google’s latest and by many the most beautiful Android offering. Opinions differ, of course, but I believe we’ll all agree that this is the most consumer friendly version of Android Google has released thus far. I’ve been showing Lollipop to my friends and acquaintances for over a week now and they all seem to like it. Some tech-savvy people aren’t all that sold when it comes to animations, but they also know how to tone them down in the developer settings, so… no argument there. Android 5.0 Lollipop has been making its way to Nexus and certain Motorola handsets for a while now, well, it seems like other manufacturers are getting on the Lollipop train, at least those who have manufactured at least one Google Play Edition device.
Lollipop update has been postponed for both GPE version of HTC One handsets two times now and people are getting kind of irritated. Sony’s Xperia Z Ultra, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to have that problem. It looks like Google has started pushing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Sony Xperia Z Ultra handsets, at least according to certain Android Central forum users. There’s no official confirmation yet, but a bunch of readers have reported the arrival of the update and there’s also a screenshot (located down below) in order to prove that. The OTA update is about 397MB big and it requires over 500MB of free space on your Xperia Z Ultra in order to install it, so keep that in mind. So, if you own the device, go to settings and start pressing the “Check For Updates” like a maniac… or just wait for the phone to notify you the update is available, but we all know you won’t do that.
Regarding the phone itself, we’re talking about a monster sporting a 6.4-inch 1080p display. This phablet sports 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which is expandable via MicroSD card up to 64GB. Xperia Z Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip clocked at 2.2GHz. 8-megapixel rear-facing and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras are also a part of the package and the device ships with a 3050mAh non-removable battery.
