It looks like Best Buy is trying to make sure that you get that special nerd or geek in your life a gift from their store this Christmas. This morning, Best Buy has announced that they will be not only extending their holiday hours but also extending their shipping deadlines as well. Best Buy has said that this was done to allow customers who haven’t gotten a gift yet to have the opportunity to go buy one.
So what is Best Buys new holiday schedule now? Best Buy will now be on holiday hours from December 19th to December 24th which is obviously Christmas Eve. As for the hours, they are as follows. On December 19th an 20th Best Buy will be open from 8am to 11pm, December 21st they will be open from 7am to 11pm, December 22nd and 23rd they will be open from 7am until midnight, and then on December 24th, Christmas Eve, they will be open from 7am to 6pm. These new holiday hours are great news for customers looking for that techy gift but bad news for employees who will have to work on Christmas Eve.
But wait there’s more. Best Buy also has a pretty sweet holiday deal going on online. They are offering customers who make a purchase of $35 or more a free upgrade to standard two-day shipping. Best Buy has even gone as far as saying that anybody who places an order at BestBuy.com by 8:30am PT on Monday, December 22nd, will get their order in the mail in time for Christmas. Anything ordered after that time still has the opportunity to make it in the mail in time for Christmas by using Best Buys special overnight shipping. This option will of course, cost you a little extra.
This whole online deal situation with Best Buy is more than likely due to heat brought on by Amazon. The huge online retailer has also announced a pretty enticing online deal to get customers to shop through them for their holiday gifts. Amazons deal is that they will be offering free shipping to anyone who was to order something over $35 before 11:59pm ET tomorrow. But the deal doesn’t stop there, Amazon is also promising their Prime members their items in time for Christmas if ordered on or before December 22nd due to free two-day shipping. Prime members can even push their luck a little bit and order an item last second, December 23rd, and only pay an extra $3 to have it overnight and in time for Christmas.
Amazon and Best Buy seem to both have great online deals but Best Buy does have a slight upper-hand by having retail stores where people can just walk in and buy what they want. Although, physical retail stores is where modern day shoppers are avoiding more and more these days, it seems like all the action is now online. People don’t want to get up and drive somewhere when they can just order it online and have it show up on their doorstep a couple days later. With that said, it will be interesting to see how many people order their gift from Best Buy instead of Amazon due to the current holiday deals.
