Now that Black Friday has come and gone and Cyber Monday is about to land, the craziness of the big US sales week will soon be over. After this, the only thing left will be the preparation for Christmas. This is also the time of the year when the year comes to a close. As such it will be time to wrap this year up and look back over the past twelve months to see how 2014 has fared overall. What was good, what was bad and what caught our attention the most. It seems Google though, is already getting started on their 2014 look-back. Today the search giant unveiled its Best Apps of 2014 list on the Play Store.
Now, this is by no means supposed to be a definitive best of 2014 list and it is clear everyone will have their own suggestions on what should be included. Nevertheless, it’s interesting to see what Google have put forward as their best of 2014. Some apps you will know and others you might not have heard of. As such these types of lists are sometimes a good way to introduce you to a few new offerings you might have missed when they first launched. There are 64 apps included on the list and this really is far too many to simply list here and now. But to give you a quick summary the list does include some old classics like the NY Times, CNN, Expedia, Shazam and Swiftkey. There are also (as you would expect) a few newer additions like Mailbox, Over, Craftsy Classes, Letters and interestingly, Google Fit.
The list seems to be a good mix of both paid and free apps. Not to mention it consists of a good spread of news based apps, social apps and ‘other’ apps. As such, overall the list does generally offer a good cross-spread of what’s been offered this year. You can check out the full listing for yourself by clicking here. Check it out and make sure to let us know what you think. Do you agree with the list? Which apps would you have added to the list? Which would you have not included on your list? Do you agree with Google including their own apps like Google Fit? Leave a comment and let us know.
