Corning has recently confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha handset features company’s latest Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Now we can confirm that the Galaxy Note 4 offers the same type of protection from Corning considering the company has listed the device on their official webpage and outright wrote that the Note 4 features “a thin, lightweight design with a 5.7″ Quad HD Super AMOLED display with damage-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 4”. We basically already knew this, well, assumed at the very least, but it’s nice to get some sort of confirmation from either of these two companies. I actually wonder whether the Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy A3, and the Galaxy A5 have the same protection included considering we didn’t get any sort of confirmation regarding those handsets. Perhaps Samsung (or Corning) will confirm that in the future as well.
This American company was rather active today and has introduced the Gorilla Glass 4 in India, reports Fonearena. This is not exactly surprising considering that India is the second largest smartphone market in the world and is attracting a lot of manufacturers to sell their devices there. We’ve seen a lot of manufacturers offering their products in India this year. Anyhow, Gorilla Glass 4 is manufactured using company’s proprietary fusion draw process thanks to which it maintains the thickness, durability, and optical clarity. Corning also highlighted that the Gorilla Glass 4 was tested for endurance in various ways and on various surfaces. Corning’s latest product offers high resistance to scratch and sharp contact damage, improved drop performance, superior surface quality, enhanced strength and the available thickness ranges from 0.4mm to 2.0mm.
“We see significant potential for Gorilla Glass 4 in India and are frequently speaking to Indian OEMs to understand their requirements. It is one of the fastest growing consumer electronics markets in the world and it therefore makes perfect sense to equip manufacturers here with the very best in cover glass technology,” said Amit Bansal, president of Corning Technologies in India. Corning also added that sampling and shipment for the Gorilla Glass 4 are currently under way with Corning’s global partners / customers.
