Huawei's Alleged Processor Roadmap Leaks, Kirin 310 and 930 Are Next In Line

Huawei launched company’s first 64-bit processor quite recently, named Huawei Kirin 620. This is a 64-bit octa-core processor based on Cortex-A53 architecture and if you’d like to know more about the chip itself, visit this article. Kirin 620 is a mid-range processor and this Chinese OEM expects it to compete with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 offering. Well, compete might be a strong word considering the popularity of the Snapdragon chips, but think of this chip as the equivalent to Qualcomm’s offering. Kirin 620 will power on one of Huawei’s upcoming handsets, most probably the Glory 4X which the company is expected to launch on December 16th alongside the Glory 6 Plus.

Anyhow, Huawei’s alleged processor roadmap leaked and showed us what are Huawei’s plans for the future. If you take a look at the image above, you’ll notice 6 listed processor, 4 of which have already been announced. Kirin 310 and 930 are the upcoming chips from this Chinese tech giant. Kirin 310 will presumably be a lower-end offering by the company, this will be a quad-core chip based on Cortex-A53 architecture and will ship with a built-in LTE support, Cat.4 baseband (up to 150Mbps speeds). The GPU is not listed, but we’re going to assume it will ship with Mali 450 GPU.

On the other hand, we have a Kirin 930 CPU, which is the most powerful of the three chips I’ve mentioned thus far. This will be an octa-core chip which will work based on big-LITTLE architecture, which basically means it has 2 quad-core processors on the inside and only one of them can work at a time for power saving purposes. One of those quad-core processors is based on Cortex-A57 architecture, while the other one is based on Cortex-A53 architecture. This chip has an integrated baseband which supports Cat.6 LTE. We still don’t know which GPU will Huawei opt for though.

Kirin 310 will launch in the first half of 2015, while the Kirin 930 will see the light of day in June or July 2015. There you have it, Huawei is really kicking it up a notch. The company is pushing out phones and processors like crazy lately and some of their smartphone (and processor alike) offerings are really appealing, though still really expensive. Despite the pricing of their more powerful handsets, Huawei still manages to sell more than enough smartphones, which is interesting.
