Meizu has announced their M1 Note handset just a few hours ago at company’s event in China, we’ve covered the launch of that handset quite extensively. The M1 Note is probably the best Android smartphone under $200 of all the handsets that go launched this year. This device offers a lot for the said price, not only does it offer really solid specs, but the device is well-built and Meizu’s Flyme OS offers great performance. You’ll have a hard time finding something cheaper and equally or better specced than this device. The handset costs 999 and 1,199 Yuan for the 16 and 32GB versions, respectively. That being said, many people have expected two devices to launch at this event, basically equally specced but different in size, at least that’s what the rumors and leaks have been pointing to. The M1 Note should have been the bigger handset of the two, the smaller unit was rumored to sport a 4.6 or a 4.7-inch display, depending on which rumors you believe. Well, Meizu’s founder and CEO, Jack Wong, was responding to some questions on Weibo (Chinese social network) and straight out said that the smaller Meizu device will launch in January. This basically means we’ll see the smaller variant of the M1 Note launched next month and it will probably be called Meizu M1, M1 Mini, or something to that effect. It remains to be seen if Meizu intends to hold a separate event for that launch as well, or will the company just silently release the device.
This handset is expected to have the same exact specifications as the Meizu M1 Note, except for the display size, as I already mentioned. So, the handset will quite probably feature a 4.6 or a 4.7-inch display, 2GB of RAM and 16 and 32GB of internal storage. MediaTek’s 64-bit octa-core MT6752 processor clocked at 1.7GHz is expected to power on this device and the device will come in various color options, just like its bigger brother. Android 4.4 KitKat will come pre-installed here as well, and the device will quite probably also sport the same 13 and 5-megapixel camera on the rear and the front side of the phone, respectively.
