Android One is a fairly new concept. The new android platform and operating system was only unveiled back in June at Google’s I/O event and was designed to try and bring a more affordable yet function operating system to certain regional markets. Following the June unveiling, the operating system did not land on the market until a couple of months ago in India with the release of Android One devices from Spice, Karbonn and Micromax in the guise of the Spice Dream Uno, the Karbonn Sparkle V and the Micromax Canvas A1.
Well, in spite of the operating system still being in its infancy, it seems companies are already gearing up and preparing to release their second generation Android One devices. At least, Karbonn definitely are. The news comes from Karbonn Mobiles Executive Director, Shashin Devsare who was talking with BGR (source link below) at the ‘Dream 500 Million Smartphones event’, in New Delhi. According to Devsare, the logic behind the quick succession of Android One devices is due to what Devsare called an “excellent response to Android One Devices”. Further adding that Karbonn’s relationship with Android One will be a long term one.
In terms of details of the next generation of Android One devices, unfortunately, information on this was not provided. As such there are no details to note on what the follow up to the Karbonn Sparkle V will look like or what components they will contain. Similarly, there are no news from the other two Android One launch partners (Spice and Micromax) as to whether they will also be releasing new One devices in the near future. That said, Q1 is not that far away so we should not have to wait too long before we hear more solid details on what is on offer and what to expect from the future of Android One. Either way, it should be expected that the devices will maintain the ethos of Andorid One by offering affordable smartphones that offer decent specs and function. Are you an Anfroid One fan?
