Lava is an Indian smartphone manufacturer which is relatively unknown outside of Asia. This company is rather active in India though, they just released their Iris Fuel 60 handset, which is company’s second smartphone in the Fuel series. This handset actually sports a 4000mAh battery on the inside and can allegedly handle 32 hours of talk time on 2G. I believe this handset also ships with Double Tap to Wake up and Drawing Gesture shortcuts just like its predecessor did, this is part of Lava’s software offering which is placed on top of Android 4.4 KitKat in this case. Anyhow, let’s check out this handset’s full specifications.
Iris Fuel 60 features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass on top of it along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card up to 32GB). This handset is powered by a 1.3 quad-core processor which is probably manufactured by MediaTek, though the manufacturer hasn’t been mentioned in the release. 10-megapixel camera can be found on the back of this device, while there’s a 2-megapixel shooter on the front side of this handset. This is a dual-SIM handset for those of you who have been wondering and FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/b/n and GPS are also included here. This is a 3G HSPA+ capable device, so you don’t get 4G LTE connectivity. As I already mentioned, 4000mAh battery is included with this device, which is of course a huge plus, especially for those of you who are annoyed with the battery life on your current handset.
“At LAVA International, we constantly strive to offer quality products best suited to meet the requirements of our consumers empowering them to do more and be more. As our dependency on smartphones has increased, battery has become a matter of concern. The Fuel series has been carefully designed by LAVA to meet such a crucial need. Today, we are delighted to announce the launch of a new member to our Fuel series of high powered battery smartphones, Iris Fuel 60 with stupendous battery of 4000 mAh is designed to provide users a relief from all battery and power bank hassles. Apart from this, the smartphone is also bundled with stylish design, blazing fast processing speeds, and brilliant camera. It is bound to provide a great user experience without sacrificing performance.” said Navin Chawla, Vice President & Head of Product at LAVA International.
The Lava Iris Fuel 60 comes in Black and White color options while the device is priced at Rs. 8,888 ($141). As you can see in the images above and below this article, this device isn’t exactly the most attractive piece of hardware. Its design is rather industrial and plain looking, it’s just a slab of black plastic as it seems, though some people (including me) actually like this design, or lack thereof. This handset will be available from online and offline retailer starting December 25th.
