Meizu enjoyed great success with company’s MX4 offering which launched back in September. That device was selling like crazy, and still is, it’s been only 3 months since it launched. Meizu decided to improve upon the MX4 and release the MX4 Pro, an even higher-specced model. That wouldn’t be weird at all, normally, but Meizu decided to release this handset only two and a half months after the unveiling of the original MX4, which is definitely weird and many would say unnecessary. It happened, and I have to say that MX4 Pro is definitely an improvement over the MX4, at least if we take a look at the specs. MX4 Pro offers a bigger, higher-res display, more RAM, a more powerful processor and a fingerprint scanner below the display. That’s basically it, the design language is pretty much the same (except for the fingerprint scanner below the display). Meizu MX4 Pro was pre-ordered 2 million times in the first 24 hours, which are great numbers for the company. Well, now we have some more detailed numbers, two weeks after the device launched.
Meizu released some official information regarding the number of pre-orders. After 14 days since the launch of this handset, 6.7 million units have been pre-ordered, which is a great result for the company. These are still less impressive results than MX4 achieved, but that was to be expected considering this device is more expensive and quite frankly the timing was a bit weird. The original Meizu MX4 was pre-ordered 7.7 million times in just 10 days, but as I said, considering the timing of the MX4 Pro launch and its price, 6.7 million pre-orders after just 2 weeks is… well, great! Meizu MX4 costs 1,799 Yuan while the MX4 Pro is priced at 2,499 Yuan in China. The MX4 Pro will be available for purchase starting December 6th, so if you didn’t pre-order one and are looking to buy it, note the date.
The price difference between the MX4 and the MX4 Pro isn’t that big, only 700 Yuan, but I believe many people didn’t feel the need to upgrade so soon after they purchased the original MX4 considering it’s still very much a great device.
