Moto G in India Gets its First Android 5.0 Lollipop Soak Test

Our readers from India will be excited about this news if they are the proud owners of an unlocked 2013 Moto G.  Motorola has officially begun the soak test for the latest version of Android, which would be Android 5.0 Lollipop.  Google just recently released their latest mobile OS on the world a few weeks ago and already we’ve seen a couple of phones get the update outside of the traditional Nexus devices.  Once again Motorola is getting the update out before basically every other OEM out there, and it’s not just in the US either.  This is just a soak test though, not necessarily the final build, so there could be some showstopping bugs to hinder your daily experience if you’re willing to give it a shot.

To take part in the test you’ll need to be a part of the Motorola Feedback Network.  You can find more information about that at Motorola’s official forums if you’re not already a part of the club.  Once you’re a member you should just be able to head to your phone’s system settings, scroll down to about phone and click “Check for Updates” to see if it’s available for you.  If for some reason it’s still not appearing you can update it via the Motorola Desktop Client by hooking the phone up to your computer.

If you’re not in the loop or you’ve been off the grid for a while and somehow missed all the Android 5.0 Lollipop coverage since Google’s unveiling back at Google I/O 2014 in the early summer, you can check out all we’ve got on Lollipop right here.  Android 5.0 Lollipop is easily the biggest update Android has ever seen, with thousands of new developer API’s, a brand new visual style called Material Design that wipes the floor with everything else on the market, and plenty more.  Motorola has their own set of features that they have added to the base Lollipop feature set to enhance what Google has already built into the OS.  Again being an early version we expect some bugs to be present but a soak test is usually a near final build so long as nothing pressing pops up during the testing period.  Grab the free update and feel your Moto G sing like it’s a brand new phone!
