We just wrote about this yesterday so some of you may not have forgotten, but today is the day that Sprint is prepared to slash wireless phone bills in half for those customers who switch from Verizon Wireless or AT&T and jump ship over to Sprint. This deal promotion was actually announced back on Tuesday, and this serves as more of a reminder than anything else, but for anyone who may have missed the news, this could be just what you were looking for if you wanted to save some cash. The breakdown is this: If you pay $160 a month to Verizon Wireless for your monthly wireless phone bill needs, Sprint will offer you the exact same services for literally half of the cost.
Now we realize that for this to matter to customers the service would have to work in your area. Like all carriers, Sprint will have some spots where the service isn’t as fast or might be less available. If that’s the case for you, then we’d urge you to look at whether or not switching to Sprint would be the best choice, even if they would save you a whole lot of money. Since I’m personally at home many days during the week and always have WiFi accessible for example, this deal would have worked fine for me if I wasn’t already on a dirt cheap plan.
Other factors to keep in mind if you’re considering this deal and considering the switch from your current carrier, is the cost of a whole new phone. As it requires users to purchase a brand new phone with the sign-up, make sure to calculate that into your total savings cost per month for a truer outcome of your monthly bill with Sprint. As we stated yesterday, when factoring in this new device cost, the savings actually drops from 50% down closer to 20%. That savings doesn’t sound as enticing as cutting your bill in half, but a savings is still a savings and we imagine that some readers will have great Sprint coverage and speeds, potentially making this deal too good to pass up.
