There’s little point arguing with the fact that the Google Nexus 6 is one of this year’s best smartphones. It did come quite late to the party but when it landed, but boy did it land with a boom. If you were not impressed with the specs of the device then you were probably impressed (although not necessarily in a good way) with the price. The Nexus 6 is a beast in all respects. That said, it was not the only beast of a phone to be released by Motorola. Round about the same time, the was-Google-now-Lenovo-owned company also unleashed the Motorola DROID Turbo. Although this was a Verizon exclusive device, this once again landed with a bang. This was almost a Nexus 6 in terms of specs, but housed in a much more accommodating size then the Nexus 6, coming in at 5.2-inches.
Well, it now seems that the DROID Turbo might have only been the prelude to what Motorola are planning. According to an anonymous tip to PhoneArena, it seems a Motorola insider has let everyone in on Motorola’s little secret for 2015. In fairness, it is probably more accurate to say big secret, as if the rumors are true the next big device to come from Motorola will be a direct rival to the Nexus 6…at least in terms of size.
According to the rumors. The new device (which at present has no name that we are aware of) will utilize the physical size and style of the Nexus 6 offering a 5,9″ display. Although no details were offered on the resolution, but it is probably safe to assume as good if not better than the Nexus 6. However, that is where the similarities stop as this one looks to offer much enhanced internal components. The new device will come with a whopping 4GB RAM and a Snapdragon 810 CPU. It was also noted the device will “showcase” the 64-bit functionality of the Snapdragon 810 and as such this could be a real solid device to look out for. Unfortunately, no further details were provided and therefore we have no details on cameras, memory and the like. In terms of when, the tipster states mid-2015 for the release. So what do you think? Will 2015 be the year of Motorola?
