In India, it’s not uncommon to see people use a tablet for their voice calling needs as well as browsing the web, after all these devices aren’t cheap and if you can purchase one device to quite literally do-it-all, then why wouldn’t you? Swipe is introducing a new tablet this week, which definitely takes after the iPad, and comes in at just RS 10,499. The Slate Pro offers voice calling, 3G data and runs Android 4.4 KitKat all in one device. Of course, whether or not this is a the right device for you is something you’ll need to decide on your own. However, if you’re fed up of smaller smartphones, and want a tablet – but can’t afford both – then something like the Slate Pro might be worth taking a look at.
For this sort of price, the specs aren’t fantastic, but the 9.7-inch tablet does run Android 4.4 KitKat, powered by a 1.3 Ghz quad-core CPU as well as 1GB of RAM. There’s 16GB of expandable storage here, and while the cameras are disappointing, with just a 2-megapixel shooter around the back and a VGA front-facing camera, we do need to remember the price of the Slate Pro. With a 6,400 mAh battery, this guy should go the distance and with 3G onboard as well as capability to make and take phone calls, this is a decent all-in-one device.
Shripal Gandhi, Founder & CEO had this to say about the new device: “We, at Swipe Technologies, are really excited about our latest innovative offering in the entertainment and education space. Swipe Slate Pro will set a benchmark in the category due to its brilliant performance and is also priced modestly. We at Swipe look forward to strengthening our Tablet PC portfolio and extend our reach with Snapdeal.” As per Mr Gandhi’s comments, the tablet is already available for purchase from Snapdeal, at a little less than the RS 10,499 asking price.
