Uber Rebrands And Expands Grocery Delivery Service As UberEssentials

Uber are an interesting company. The startup which began as a cheaper alternative to paying premium fares for a taxi service has recently starting branching out its service in a number of ways. We have already seen this year Uber trying to create a service where they will deliver your lunch. This was under the UberFRESH guise and basically meant the company would offer a different lunch each day which could be delivered to you in less than ten minutes. More recently, Uber embarked on a partnership with Spotify. This one was much simpler and allowed Uber users to create their own playlist which would be sent to your Uber driver and as such would be played throughout your taxi ride. Just as if you were driving yourself, in your own car.

Well, the latest news from Uber is that they are now returning to one of their earlier ventures. Corner Store, as it used to be known was an experimental service Uber ran in Washington D.C. Similar to UberFRESH, Corner Store offered its users the ability to have their shopping delivered to them. Again, similar to UberFRESH, the grocery service offers ‘essential items’ which will be delivered in ten minutes or less. The service has now been re-branded and as such now goes under the UberESSENTIALS guise. In terms of what’s on offer, the list seems to be quite varied. Items are broken down into categories and just to give you a brief example the categories include Holiday Essentials (Christmas lights and so on), Candy and Snacks, Household, Personal Care and Sexual Wellness. You can probably guess what the last one is all about and especially if you want deliver in under ten minutes.

The service is still only available within the Washington DC area and is operational between 9am and 9pm on weekdays. On weekends the hours are somewhat extended to between 9am and midnight. As with all other Uber services, cash is not required and your User account is billed for all your purchases. For more information, hit the source link below. So will you be using the new service?
