Xiaomi is really juggling a ton of stuff at once. The company is in the middle of expansion plans to other countries / continents and yet they are releasing devices as usual, though that’s not all. Xiaomi has announced via company’s “Xiaomi MIUI” Google+ page that they plan to release the kernel source code for the Xiaomi Mi3 and Redmi 1S, the company stated: “We will release the Mi 3 kernel source within Q1 2015, and will also be releasing the Redmi 1S kernel source in December 2014”. So, for those of you who have been waiting the kernel source code for these two devices, you’re in luck. That’s not all that we found out though, Hugo Barra, Xiaomi’s VP of International, has confirmed that Xiaomi will release the additional 2 devices and that their source code is somewhat similar to the Mi3’s source code, that is basically the reason why the company has waited to release Mi3’s kernel source. Developers, get ready, you’ll soon get full access to Mi3 and the Redmi 1S.
That being said, regarding the two devices Hugo Barra mentioned, we’re still not sure which devices will get launched, but that shouldn’t stop us from guessing, right? Well, according to the latest rumors, Xiaomi’s ultra affordable tablet is a sure bet. We’ve seen a rather interesting rumors about a 9.2-inch 720p (display) Xiaomi tablet lately which will allegedly be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 quad-core 64-bit processor and sport 1GB of RAM. The rumors also said that the price of this tablet will probably be around $100, which is just amazing. These are not bad specs at all considering the price point and if Xiaomi manages to pull this off, I can see a ton of people buying this thing.
The other device might be Redmi 1S’ successor. Xiaomi had great success with this handset, especially in China and India, the company has sold tons of Redmi 1S handsets. The most frequent participant in Xiaomi’s “Flash Sales” was the Redmi 1S and company used to sell tens of thousands of these handsets at a time, it would be really interesting to see the overall statistics as far as sales go for this thing. We’re still not sure what specifications can we expect out of this device, but I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.
