ZTE is getting ready to launch the successor to last year’s Grand SII smartphone at CES 2015, and these leaked renders from China show what looks like a rounded back on the new phone. Dubbed the Grand SIII, we know it’s going to be the follow up to the Grand SII but we don’t know many details about this new phone yet. From a design standpoint this is a good looking device. The phone is supposed to be a unibody design with a rounded back .This should make the phone easier to hold, which is a good thing because we are expecting this phone to be rather large. The Grand SII has a 5.5-inch display, and the Grand SIII will probably have about the same screen size. The rumors from China also point to a metal body on ZTE’s new flagship.
The original ZTE Grand S was announced at CES 2013 and released a few months later in March. It’s a 5-inch device with a 1080p resolution and a Krait 200 quad-core processor. ZTE upped their game the following year with the ZTE Grand SII. The ZTE Grand SII came out in April of this year. It has a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. It comes with 16GB of internal storage, 2 GB of RAM, and a microSD card to expand storage up to 32GB more, and it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset.
It’s a high-end device that still holds up, but ZTE is looking forward to 2015 and what the new year will bring. The company announced the Grand SII at CES 2014 in January before releasing it in April. They will probably follow that same time frame with this new smartphone. CES 2015 is happening January 6-9 in Las Vegas, Nevada. As we get closer to that date, we should start seeing more information leak out about the ZTE Grand SIII. There haven’t been too many phones announced at CES in the past few years, so the ZTE is one of the few that we’ll be watching for new device announcements.
