2015 To See HTC Launch New Products In Connected Home, Fitness And Entertainment Categories

HTC has seen better years when it comes to their lineup of handsets, at least from a sales perspective, but don’t let that fact of HTC having lost market share to other big name brands the last couple of years convince you that their lineup of devices hasn’t been good. The HTC One series devices have actually been pretty awesome, and rightfully so as they come out of the gate swinging with some great features and compelling design. To keep up though, HTC is going to have to advance, to adapt, to change, so that they might have a chance at continuing to compete against larger OEM brands with more cash who are already doing the same thing, adapting.

One way HTC is planning to do this is through a new range of products aimed at targeting different markets and product categories. According to Droid Life who had a sit down with HTC spokespeople at CES this week, HTC is looking at launching new products this year that are related to the connected home, fitness and health, and some products related to entertainment categories. HTC’s RE camera is a good example of something that would fit into the entertainment category, but that launched in 2014 so we should expect more products that follow a similar path of inspiration as the RE camera perhaps.

HTC is also looking at branching out into the Connected Home sector, although they didn’t seem to give any details as to what they had brewing in the R&D department, if anything at this time. We simply know that they’re goal is to launch some of these new products sometime later this year. As for health and fitness, HTC announced their partnership with Under Armour today and that partnership is supposed to be giving life to a few new products, and not just a fitness tracker or band, so one could only wonder what they are already working on. As a fan of HTC products, it’s great to see them trying some more new stuff in an attempt to find something that sticks. Despite they’re losses in handset sales, they’re still trying to innovate and we certainly hope to see them pull through with something awesome.
