If you’re a big user of Lightroom, like I am. Then you are probably really excited to see Adobe Lightroom Mobile finally make its way to Android. It’s been available on iOS for quite a while. It’s available on the Google Play Store now, for free. However, let’s clarify that. It’s free to download and is “available as part of a full Adobe Creative Cloud membership and Creative Cloud Photography plan,” according to Adobe. Which is pretty much what we expected, is that it would be tied in with Creative Cloud.
Lightroom Mobile isn’t quite the same as using it on your desktop. But you do have some great photo editing tools now available on your smartphone or tablet. It can review and edit your images and sync them with your catalog back home – a.k.a. on your laptop or computer. It also includes features like access images in your Lightroom catalog, make selects, reject unworthy photos, apply a preset, fine tunes your images using the Basic panel, and import new photos directly from the Gallery.
There are Smart Previews in Lightroom Mobile. However, it is limited to pictures that are 2560px long on the long edge. Which makes sense. Lightroom doesn’t have as many resources on Mobile as it would on your laptop or Desktop. Additionally it is also be used to make adjustments even when the original file isn’t available.
When you download Adobe Lightroom Mobile, you’ll need to sign into your Creative Cloud account to get started. Otherwise the app is essentially useless. But, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial of Lightroom Mobile, if you want to try it out before signing up for Creative Cloud. Which starts at $10/month.
