Archos has quietly been making a name for themselves in the connected home collection of products. Now they’ve got another connected home product here, and it’s an e-Grocery Shopping Tool. They are calling it the Archos Kitchen Screen. This tablet makes it really easy for users to add items to their digital shopping cart during the week. All they have to do is wave the item in front of the screen (uses the camera to see what the item is, obviously), or use voice commands to add the item to your cart. It also uses the touchscreen to suggest product alternatives, in case your wanted item is not available. It also offers customized electronic coupons.
Loic Poirier, CEO at ARCHOS noted, “As leaders in the Connected Objects field, we are proud to work with Freshub to connect the kitchen. Our Smart Home vision now helps people to keep their kitchens filled up thanks to the world’s first connected device offering an instant grocery retail link. This game-changing connectivity will considerably alter the way people shop and will shape the future retailing experience.”
Additionally, the Archos Kitchen Screen also offers a variety of kitchen, family and smart home apps. These include recipes, cooking timers, streaming music, safety cameras, digital picture frames, clock and weather apps and much more. It would definitely be a great compliment to anyone’s kitchen. This is truly the next step in a connected house, through the kitchen.
2015 seems to be the year of the connected all the things. We’ve got more products from Belkin in their WeMo lineup, we also have a connected baby bottle (we got a connected fork last year, as well as a connected toothbrush). And these are just things we’ve seen at CES this week. Nevermind what we get throughout the rest of the year. Definitely will be an exciting year.
