AT&T Confirm They Will Be Carrying The ZTE Spro 2 Projector And Mobile Hotspot

CES is slightly different to other events we see during the calendar year and that is because you never quite know what you are going to get. CES covers every aspects of the industry that has a plug (or a battery) and as such the possibilities are endless. While Samsung tries this year to sell you its washing machines and LG tries to tout its flexible smartphone, it seems ZTE are here to sell you their uniquely positioned (and looking) Spro 2. Now, as there is a ‘2’ in the title you are probably already guessing this is a follow up device (clever you) and this is true. The Spro 2 follows on from last year’s Spro and is in short terms – a mobile projector unit with built in hotspot capabilities.

However, one of the more interesting aspects (at least from our perspective) is that this little bad boy comes running on Android 4.4 (KitKat). As this is primarily a projector, the Spro 2 has the ability to project a 720p image on a wall up to 120″ in size and to a brightness of 200 lumens. However, as this is also a mobile hotspot it can also connect upto 8 devices on 4G LTE. The device comes with a whopping 6,300mAh battery and as such can stream content for up to 3 hours before needing a charge. Of course, as this runs on Android, it will also have access to the Play Store and a ton of usable apps to boot So all-in-all a rather interesting and usable device.

If you were thinking of picking up one then you will want to know the details. Well, first up, it is worth pointing out that as a last main selling point (and compared to last year’s edition), the Spro 2 is hitting the market unlocked meaning it will work on any network. To add to this, the very latest news emerging is that AT&T have confirmed that they will be carrying the new ZTE projector and hot spot. Unfortunately, no details were provided in terms of how much the unit will be on sale via AT&T, or even when it will land in stores. However, it is largely expected that it will become available sometime in Q1. Are you interested in the new Spro 2? If so, you should check out our hands-on from yesterday.
