In the sea of consumer electronics being unveiled all this week at CES 2015, you won’t be too hard pressed to find all kinds of new audio equipment. If you’re specifically interested in home audio, Cambridge this morning has just announced a set of six new digital music and HiFi components for release this year as part of their CX series. Adding more quality to their lineup in a range of different components, Cambridge is now offering a new network audio player, two new AV receivers, two stereo amplifiers, and a CD player.
In addition to coming out with some new home audio, Cambridge is also taking this time to introduce a slight refresh to their brand with their completely new logo, which is now simply, Cambridge. To start Cambridge has their new network player called the CXN Upsampling Network Music Player, which not only comes with a new design for the chassis, but also a color TFT screen which displays details about the music you’re listening to. It can display album artwork as well as the track listing so you always know what you’ve got streaming at any given time with just a quick glance. Cambridge’s network music player is just like it sounds, a network music player, which means it has access to streaming tunes from a varied supply of different services like Spotify, iHeart Radio, Pandora, Rhapsody, and many more, and you can also have it stream tunes from Apple Air Play, or from a media server on your PC or Mac.
As we mentioned above Cambridge is also unveiling a new set of AV receivers. One of those is the CXR-200 which touts 120 watts per channel, or 200 watts per channel in stereo mode to give you a little extra power behind your audio. The other is the CXR-120, a 60-watt per channel receiver that is capable of outputting double the watts per channel(120-watts)in stereo mode. Both products carry an HDMI port on the front for easy connection to computers, tablets and video cameras, and they also support MHL(mobile high definition link)for a connection to smartphones that support MHL.
Cambridge also has two new stereo amplifiers for 2015, the CXA-60 and the CXA-80, which are 60-watt and 80-watt amplifiers. Cambridge states that what they were going for with these two amplifiers was to give them the “ability to accurately reproduce quieter sections of music while handling the power and complexity of louder portions of music.” Lastly Cambridge is offering a new CD player for 2015, called simply the Cambridge CXC CD Player, allowing consumers to add a high quality CD transport to any existing system but at a cost effective approach. Pricing for the six new components starts at $999 for the network player, $1,999 and $2,499 for the CXR-120 and the CXR-200 respectively, $799 for the CXA-60 Stereo amplifier, $999 for the CXA-80, and $499 for the CXC CD Player.
