You Can Now Purchase An Amazon Fire Phone For Just $189 Unlocked

Remember last summer when Amazon unveiled to the world their new smartphone with a price tag of $649? Yeah, we all do and many of us skeptics really wondered if the Amazon Fire Phone was even worth the hefty price tag. Here we are months later and Amazon has come to the realization that the smartphone they thought would be a game changer, flopped hopelessly. According to GSMArena, Amazon lost $170 Million, which is a huge sum for such a larger retailer. With as much ambition Amazon put into the Fire Phone, they company has a large quantity of units lying around and the need for them to be sold has become top priority to Amazon.

Over the months we’ve seen the price tag drop drastically. Starting out at just $649, the Fire phones price fell to $449. From there the decline of the price continued as it fell to $199 and now to its new price tag of $189. To make things sound even more crazy, this latest price is for an Unlocked, SIM-Free Fire Phone. Amazon is practically giving away this phone and if you are willing to play around with a forked version of Android that lacks Google apps, be my guest. The Fire Phone isn’t too much of a bad device. Amazon was kind enough to give the Fire Phone a  4.7-inch HD display with a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor. They even put 2GB RAM and a rear 13MP camera with OIS. So we can’t bash the phone too much but it does fall under the category of weak Android Phones.

In addition to the fancy features of the Fire Phone, we can’t forget that when you get ahold of one, you get a year’s free subscription to Amazon Prime that is worth $99. So if you look at it this way, you get a fairly decent phone with speedy delivery of anything that you order online. Its still quite surprising to see how the price of this device fell from a whopping $649 price tag, to just costing you $189. Looks like Jeff Bezos needs to go back to the drawing board.
