Lenovo is one of the many, many companies announcing new wearables at CES 2015. Today they announced the new Vibe Band, a smartwatch with an E ink display that is supposed to get you up to 7 days of battery life. It shows notifications for phone calls, messages, social networking, and more, with room for up to 150 characters. The Vibe Band could show you whole messages without the need to pull out your phone. The band has support for fitness tracking and other fitness functions, and it will notifiy you if it gets separated from your phone. You can silence and ignore phone calls from it, and it’s IPX7 rated waterproof so you can submerge it in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. It’s compatible with Android 4.4 devices and up, and it connects to your phone or tablet using Bluetooth Low Energy. There’s a micro USB connection as well, in case you need it. Here’s what Lenovo has to say about their new Vibe Band:
“For those who worry about missing phone notifications, here comes the Lenovo VIBE Band. Featuring an E ink display and up to 7-day battery life with your display and Bluetooth always turned on, your phone notifications come closer to you and keep your phone tucked away. The VIBE Band also helps keep you fit by monitoring your steps, calories, sleep and exercise. It’s even Dunkableâ„¢ with IPx7 rating, so you can wear it in the shower. And it stops you from losing your phone by warning you if you’ve stepped too far away, or activating your ringtone at the push of a button.”
The Vibe Band has a 296 x 128 resolution display in a vertical screen that should fit very comfortably on your wrist. The Vibe Band will be available overseas in April; it won’t be coming to the U.S. It will cost about $89 and in black, with a metal body with a rubber strap.
