Typically when we are looking at battery packs to buy, we usually look at the capacity. That’s not all that matters when it comes to battery packs. We’ve seen a couple really small battery packs lately. Like the one Motorola announced last fall. This Offgrid Ultra Thin Battery Backup from Incipio is really small, about the size of a Business card – you can see that in the gallery below. It’s also only 1500mAh in capacity. So it’s not going to charge up your smartphone several times, unfortunately.
It’s a really small battery pack that has a brushed metal look – it looks really nice, but does that really matter with a battery pack? Probably not. It also has a micro USB cable embedded in the battery pack. Which is important. I don’t know about everyone else, but I much prefer battery packs that have a micro USB cable embedded in the battery pack, so I don’t have to worry about bringing another cable with me to charge my phone or tablet. There’s also an adapter that you can plug on the end of the micro USB cable to charge your Apple devices with the lightning cable. Which is also a really nice touch. Seeing as many of us do have both Android and iOS devices.
All in all, it’s a really great pocketable battery pack. What I mean by that, is that it’ll fit in your pocket more than a 15,000mAh battery pack from Limefuel, Anker, or even Incipio. It’s also super lightweight. I’ll be adding this one to my collection, along with my Limefuel Battery pack. It’ll definitely get some use at Mobile World Congress in late February, early March. And it’s better than carrying around a big battery with me, and it’ll keep my phone topped off to make it throughout the day.
How many of you like having these smaller, key-chain like battery packs in your possession rather than a large battery pack? Let us know in the comments down below.
