HTC devices are really becoming a fan favorite among android users. In particular, the HTC One range, of recent times, have quickly adopted themselves in among the best of the flagship devices available. This is probably one of the reasons as to why there is so much hype and speculation surrounding the latest incarnation, the HTC One M9. It is probably fair to say that one of the reasons users seem to like HTC devices, is due to its version of the android operating system. The HTC Sense skin which comes on top of andorid on HTC devices is quickly establishing itself as a nice, clean and well-liked skin (unlike Samsung’s TouchWiz). Not to mention, the HTC apps which come preloaded specifically for HTC devices are also quite well-liked. That said, if you are not an HTC device owner, then you probably do not know about these apps or how good they are.
Well, thanks to the world of customization, porting and tweaking, it now looks like you can at least get a little taste of one HTC stock app. That is, regardless of what manufacturer or phone you are using. The clever folks over at XDA have ported the HTC Gallery app from the One M8 and made it compatible with other devices. The original port was only (initially) created for the LG G3 (hence the title if you click on the source link below). However, this is probably due to the device the developer was using when creating the port. Since then, a number of comments on the XDA posting have noted that the app is also working on their non-HTC/LG devices.
According to the details, root is not needed to run the app, although it does have to be sideloaded onto your device before you can install it. If you are unsure of how to do this, then simply stick the APK (from source link below) on your smartphone’s internal memory and try to open the APK with a file management app, like ES File Explorer. If you are thinking of giving it a try then you should also be aware that this app might not work for all devices, so be prepared if you are planing on giving it a go.
