Lenovo Announces Vibe X2 Pro with 64-bit Snapdragon 615 CPU, Front and Rear 13MP Cameras

Lenovo announced the new Vibe X2 Pro today with some pretty strong statements. The company says that the Vibe X2 Pro “redefines smartphone craftsmanship through its unique layered design. With a full-metal back, it comes in a range of vibrant colors and a striking high-contrast profile.” The metal design and layered color scheme makes for an eye catching piece of hardware. The Vibe X2 Pro ha a 5.3-inch full HD display, and is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core chip. It’s an impressively designed and well-specced phone that unfortunately won’t be making its way to the U.S.

For specs, we have that metal body with the layered design, giving the Vibe X2 Pro a unique look. The 5.3-inch display has a 1920 x 1080 HD resolution and is supposed to be easy to see, even in bright sunlight outside. The octa-core Snapdragon 615 64-bit processor is clocked at 1.5GHz and the phone has 2GB of RAM.It has dual nano SIM card slot and 13-megapixel cameras on the front and back, both with auto-focus, along with 32GB of internal storage for all of you stuff. It’s running Android 4.4 KitKat with “Vibe UI 2.0 optimizations” which means it has Lenovo’s Android skin on it. The phone does support 4G LTE, although we don’t know which markets the phone is heading to so we’re not sure what LTE bands it supports. The Vibe X2 Pro is a phone that I’d like to see make its way to U.S. shores, but Lenovo is keeping Lenovo-branded devices overseas and using the Motorola brand in the States.

Lenovo bought Motorola Mobility from Google and just closed that deal in October 2014. They are using the Motorola brand recognition to grow their footprint and gain more customers in the U.S. and other markets that aren’t as familiar with the Lenovo name and brand. Lenovo paid Google a total of $2.91 billion for Motorola. That total was split between $660 million in cash and $750 million in Lenovo stock, and a $1.5 billion promissory note that Lenovo will pay back over three years. Lenovo got Motorola Mobility, but Google kept all of Motorola’s patents.

The Lenovo Vbe X2 Pro smartphone will be available in April 2015. It will sell for about $499.
