Kodak is a well-known name, but not in the sense of smartphone technology. This company did however release an Android-powered camera-focused smartphone at CES in Las Vegas. We’ve already covered the announcement of the phone itself, which you can check out if you want to see more details about the device itself. We’re here to share some additional hands-on images of the device with you, taken at the show floor.
If you check out the gallery bellow this article you’ll notice a bunch of shots which will give you a good idea of how this device looks like. It has that soft touch back which feels great when you hold it, but the device is nothing special as far as the design goes. It looks simple and industrial, but I bet Kodak wanted it to look like that consider it they market it as a phone for anyone. This smartphone actually comes with Kodak’s custom UI which is incredibly simple to use, we’ve already talked about it, but it basically offers a grid of icons on the homescreen, so that even the elder folk can use it with no issues, at least in theory.
The IM5 features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). MediaTek’s octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz is powering on this handset. The device itself weighs 120 grams and ships with Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Kodak’s UI on top o fit. This handset also comes with dual-SIM capability for those of you who need / want to use two SIM cards at the same time. 13-megapixel OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) camera is available on the back of this handset, and a 5-megapixel snapper is located on the front side of the device. This smartphone will be available in Europe at the end of Q1 2015 for €299, the phone will also hit U.S. eventually and will cost about $249 there.
