CES brings with it a lot of major announcements each year from a lot of the bigger companies. That said, it is not always about the new products. More often than not, one of the real benefits of CES is to remind you of products you heard about before, but didn’t hear about them since. A prime example of this is the Noke Bluetooth Padlock by FŪZ Designs. We first told you about this product all the way back in August of last year. At the time, the product was only at the Kickstarter stage and at the time of printing still had a month left to run on the fundraising. Well, if you haven’t guessed by now, FŪZ Designs did manage to secure enough funding with their $100,000 market being easily surpassed by the time the September deadlines came.
For those that missed the early announcement and new to this product, the Noke (pronounced ‘no key’ – clever huh) is a padlock. That said, unlike any padlock you currently use, this is a Bluetooth enabled padlock. This means when you are near your padlocked item (bike, chest under bed, end of the world stockpile etc) the padlock will recognize your android phone and instantly unlock. After downloading the official Noke android app of course. No key (again, clever name), no code or no anything else needed to use the padlock. You can even share access to your Noke with others through the android app, which is pretty smart.
Well, to get back to the point, FŪZ Designs is present at CES and it looks like they are just about ready to let you get your hands on their Noke padlock. The company are now accepting pre-orders for the Noke (source link below). and it will set you back a cool $59.99. If you are thinking of buying two then you can pick them up at a slightly reduced cost of $54.99 each. The padlock is available in either black or grey (I guess depending on what color your end of the world stockpile drawer is). In terms of when you can expect to receive it? Well, FŪZ are suggesting the units should begin shipping in April.
