Nokia is becoming a rather frequent visitor to the Android news headlines all over the world. The company has unveiled their Android-powered N1 tablet back in November, even though they’re technically not allowed to manufacture anything until 2016 as part of their deal with Microsoft. We’re talking about what’s left of Nokia after Microsoft purchased their Devices and Services business. This Finland-based company found a way around that rule though, they hired Foxconn to manufacture their devices and released a solid Android-powered tablet, great even.
This device launched in China yesterday for only 1,599 Yuan ($257) and it seems like Chinese consumers are more than interested in the tablet. The company sold 20,000 units of this tablet in just 4 minutes after pre-orders opened, as reported by blogjackphone. These are great results for the company, they truly are. The low price for this thing definitely helped and this is a solid start for Nokia, we’ll see what happens on January 15, when the company will sell a second batch of the N1 tablets.
Nokia’s N1 tablet features a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 IPS LCD display, 2GB of RAM for all your multitasking needs and 32GB of non-expandable in-built. This tablet is powered by Intel’s Atom Z3580 quad-core chip clocked at 2.3GHz which comes with a PowerVR G6430 GPU for graphics processing, which should be more than powerful enough to run anything you throw at it. A 5,300mAh battery is here to make sure you don’t run out of juice before the end of your day and this device ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop with Nokia’s Z Launcher on top of it, which is rather light skin, you can even download it from the Google Play Store and try it out on your device if you’d like. As far as this tablet’s cameras are concerned, you’ll find an 8-megapixel shooter at the back of this device, while there’s a 5-megapixel shooter is available up front. The tablet measures 200.7 x 138.6 x 6.9mm and weighs 318 grams.
The Nokia N1 tablet will reach Europe in February and it will be interesting to see what will its price be outside of China, and also how well will it sell. Does this device appeal to you, would you consider getting one for yourself?
