Motorola has been on a bit of upswing since the release of their Moto X and Moto G handsets back in 2013, and then further launches of the Moto E which was Motorola’s way of saying you can absolutely build an affordable handset that comes with decent specifications and hardware. Last year Motorola introduced us to the second generation of the Moto X and the Moto G, but we have yet to see any official announcements of a second generation Moto E. There has also been a lack of official images of the Motorola’s second gen entry level handset, although today it seems some leaks have popped up on the web that show off what the next Moto E could look like.
Even though these are leaks they carry the same type of design as the Moto X and Moto G from 2014, so we’d say it’s a safe bet the Moto E 2nd Gen. will probably end up looking like this. We can see the bigger camera lens on the back albeit without a flash ring surrounding it like we see on the Moto X 2nd Gen. It also appears to be running Android Lollipop which is given away by the navigation buttons down at the bottom.
We can also see one speaker up top alongside the front facing camera and the sensors to the left side of the display. Since this is just an image leak we have no way of knowing what the specs are on the inside, and for now we have no idea what type of network connections it will support. Most likely though it’ll have support for at least WiFi b/g/n and likely Bluetooth 4.0. This phone also seems to have a mic on the back just to the left of the camera which we could assume is for noise cancellation. I myself can’t speak to the noise cancellation on the original Moto E and how the sound quality was during voice calls, but if this is a second mic I’d imagine the quality would be improved on the new version of the device. Power and volume buttons appear to be on the right side of the device and you can see the 3.5mm audio port up top, and the charging port is either up top next to the audio port or smack in the middle on the bottom of the device. Stay tuned as more potential leaks regarding specs, prices and launch dates could start showing up in the near future.
