Vaio isn’t exactly a brand that we hear much about in the smartphone space. Sony actually sold their Vaio share to the Japan Industrial partners a while ago, and it was reported that they intend to launch a Vaio-branded smartphone in 2015. This thing was expected to launch in January, but it seems like that won’t happen, the launch has been delayed until next month. We do have some news regarding this for you though, so read on if you’re interested.
First the packaging of the Vaio smartphone leaked, and then Fukuda Naohisa, the vice president of Japan Communication showcased the box at the company’s press event and basically confirmed everything. The box is rather plain black with Vaio branding on top of it, quite minimalistic I’d say. This phone is rumored to sport a 5-inch display, and you can expect some tablets to be announced as well, perhaps not next month, but in the near future for sure. This smartphone will launch in February during a press even in Japan, that’s all we know thus far. If you’d like to check out the outside and inside looks of this box, just take a look at the gallery down below. It feels kinda strange they’d showcase a box of the upcoming phone, but hey… they did.
We really don’t know what to expect out of this phone, and I have to say I like that, it’s refreshing. We usually get tons of leaks before a device is launched, which is not the case here. I don’t expect Vaio to release something revolutionary though, but it’s nice not knowing how the phone will look before it launches, nor the full list of its specifications. That being said, what do you think this smartphone will look like, will it be built out of plastic or will metal and glass be a part of the design as well? Which specifications will it rock in the end? Let us know what you think in the comments down below or via social networks, it would be nice to hear from you, as always.
