Rumors That LG Will Sue Qualcomm Over Snapdragon 810 Are False According To LG

If you are into your soap dramas, then the tech world has started with a bang in 2015. The year is only a few weeks old and yet we are already seeing debates, dramas and accusations being thrown everywhere. While OnePlus and Cyanogen do not seem to be talking to each other, we also have this ongoing drama with Qualcomm’s latest processor, the Snapdragon 810. There is no doubt that putting a Snapdragon in your smartphone seems to make your smartphone more valuable. However, with this latest offering, it seems the Snapdragon 810 is a processor to avoid at all costs.

This all started when it began to be rumored that there were overheating issues with the Qualcomm chip. From then on, it became clear that Samsung were not going to use the chipset in their upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 (at least not at first). This seemed to cause somewhat of a shockwave and then the rumors started coming in that Qualcomm were willing to modify the processor to make sure Samsung did include it, in their upcoming flagship. Of course, here was a problem for the other South Korean tech giant, LG. Like Samsung, LG is also planning to launch the latest Qualcomm in their LG G Flex 2 device. In fact, when the rumored issues with the processor came to attention and Samsung seemingly dropped the chip, it was LG who stood up and defended the processor, stating that they had not experienced any issues with it. That was of course though, before the rumor that Qualcomm was willing to make changes, especially for Samsung. The assumption was while Samsung got this new shiny working processor, little old LG would be left with the overheating and not working processor that they had defended so much. This sent the rumor mill into overdrive with reports very recently that LG was planning to sue Qualcomm over the whole thing.

Well, if you are tuning in for your latest Snapdragon 810 update, then it seems LG are not planning on suing anyone. In fact, in a statement given to GSMArena (source link below) they adamantly denied there was any issue between them and Qualcomm “Rumors regarding LG taking legal action against Qualcomm are unfounded and a complete fabrication of the facts”. In fact, they went on to effectively blame the source of the rumor for the wild speculation “Given the source of this rumor, we’re surprised it’s being taken seriously at all“. So what do you think? Glad LG is not suing Qualcomm? Let us know.
