Sony to Offer the Xperia Z4 with both QHD and FHD Displays

Many thought that Sony might introduce the Xperia Z4 at CES this week. But that turned out to not be true. As Sony’s press conference came and went and only really gave us Android TV, a metal Smartwatch 3 and a new Walkman that costs $1200 – still not sure anyone will buy that. We’ll likely see it at Mobile World Congress at the end of February though. The Xperia Z4 was likely at CES this week though to show off to carriers and other partners and get them on board. That’s nothing new though, flagships are always behind closed doors at these events.

There’s a new rumor coming out of G For Games today that Sony will be offering the Xperia Z4 in a QHD model, as well as a FHD model. So we’ll see a 2560×1440 resolution Xperia Z4, and a 1920×1080 resolution Xperia Z4. The FHD model will likely be cheaper and probably have lower storage capacity, although that’s not been rumored or confirmed. That’s not all that’s in this juicy rumor. Sony is also expected to make the Xperia Z4 even more waterproof. And additionally it’ll be made of shiny metal. So no more glass back, which I wasn’t a fan of on the Xperia Z and Z1. Although with the Z3 and Z3v it was much improved, and didn’t get scratched up as easily, which is nice.

The best part about this waterproofing? The source is saying that there will be no need for flaps. That’s a big deal. That’s really my only complaint with the Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and just about any Sony smartphone or tablet. The flaps are somewhat annoying. But to see that it’ll be waterproof without them, that’s a big deal to me. How many of you are excited to see the Xperia Z4 announced soon? Let us know in the comments down below.
