We won’t be seeing the Sony Xperia Z4 make an appearance at CES, those rumors were far-fetched anyhow. We’ll probably see this device launched in the next couple of months though, could happen as early as February or March actually. Sony did, however, had something to show us at this year’s CES in Las Vegas, aside from some Bravia TVs and related tech, the company showcased their new Sony Walkman ZX2 handset and a stainless steel version of company’s Smartwatch 3.
That being said, Sony had something else on the showcase at CES, their upcoming smartglasses. Sony brought forth the Developer Edition of company’s SmartEyeglass smartglasses which first appeared at MWC last year. The Verge had a chance to try them out and it seems like they’re pleased with what Sony had to show off. These smartglasses will quite probably launch in March, we’re talking about a rather robust pair of 3D smartglasses. Their display features a semi-transparent green hue which you’re able to see in front of your eyes when you’re having the glasses on, the display is of course projected in front of your eyes. You can navigate the menu and control these smartglasses via a small remote which looks kind of a hockey puck.
Sony also plans to introduce the SmartEyeglass Attach! gadget, which can be attached to your regular glasses. Unlike the SmartEyeglass smartglasses, this gadget projects the screen outside of your right eye’s peripheral, this makes it a lot more like the Google Glass than the aforementioned smartglasses. This glass attachment actually displays a full-color display unlike the SmartEyeglass smartglasses.
This Japan-based company did not reveal when will they release either of these products, so we can only guess at this point. Considering that these smartglasses were present at last year’s MWC approximately 10 months ago, I guess Sony is at least somewhat close to releasing this gadget, I hope that they’ll be ready to showcase the final version this year. As far as the SmartEyeglass Attach! goes, who knows, perhaps they intend to release them at the same time. What are your thoughts here, would you be interested in either of these products?
