When Sony launched the Xperia Z3 in the Fall of 2014, they had unveiled the device to come in four different color options. The typical white and black we see from just about every other phone manufacturer, and then a sleek looking silver/green color and a copper color to round out the flavors. Recently it had been uncovered that Sony would be adding a 5th color to the Xperia Z3 roster, taking on the purple color we saw from the Xperia Z2. Personally I was hoping for the mandarin orange color seen on the Xperia Z3 Compact, but you can’t win em’ all right? The purple Xperia Z3 was noticed by Xperia Blog, and now they have spotted a few pictures of the device that have popped in the wild.
There isn’t any official word on when Sony is looking to release this color model, but the purple is certainly a different color you don’t see too often from phone manufacturers, and we imagine there will be some people happy to see this color variation. According to Xperia Blog, the phone is scheduled to launch sometime in the middle of next month, which kind of makes sense as Sony would want to make one last major push of the device before they unveil their next flagship, the Xperia Z4, which is being speculated to get announced at Mobile World Congress taking place at the end of next month.
As far as price goes, there shouldn’t be any change from what the Xperia Z3 LTE costs now, which is $630 on the Sony store. There is also no confirmation that Sony will launch the purple model in the US via the Sony store like they have the other colors, but we don’t see any reason for them not to. Like the rest of the models, the purple Sony Xperia Z3 should be featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU clocked at 2.5GHz, 3GB of RAM, and the 20.7MP rear facing camera. If this is like the US LTE model(D6603)it should be coming with 16GB of internal storage with expandable storage via the microSD card supporting up to a 128GB card.
