Study Shows That Android Users Watch More Porn Than iOS

Every January, we run across a multitude of surveys that look back over the year gone by and throw out facts and figures on just about every topic imaginable.  Companies want to know where their increases and decreases were and where they need to improve.  Well, porn companies are no different – they too need to know what are the trends that people are looking for and how are their customers viewing their website.  Pornhub has put out its yearend report and while there is some really titillating information released, we at Android Headlines are going to take the high road and report only the devices used to watch porn and the operating systems that are employed to do so.  Okay, so I might slip a little nugget in here and there, but then you will have to read the entire article to find them!

The traffic on stationary devices and their operating systems really comes as no surprise – Windows holds first place in viewership with 83.3-percent, followed by Mac OSX with 11.5-percent, in third place is the catch-all, Other, at 2.9 and Linux is in last place with 2.3-percent of viewers.  There was a big change in the desktop traffic between 2013 and 2014 – due in some small part to the increase in mobile viewing.  Linux users all of a sudden must have stumbled on the Pornhub website and liked what they saw – there was a 66.1-percent increase in viewership from Linux users.  Mac increased by 7.5-percent as well, but Windows, the main preference when viewing porn, decreased by 3.5-percent.

When it comes to Mobile Operating systems, the figures are not surprising considering the worldwide domination of the Android OS.  Android accounted for 49.9-percent of views, iOS accounted for 40.2-percent, Others pulled in 6-percent, Windows users were at 2.6-percent, and even BlackBerry users accounted for 1.4-percent of viewers.  One might at first think that Android users enjoy their porn much more, however, when you figure in the fact that 85-percent of the world is using Android versus Apple’s iOS 12-percent, all of a sudden those iOS users and their little displays, still enjoyed watching more than the Android users.  As far as the change in Mobile OS Traffic Share from 2013 to 2014 – Windows gained a whopping 52.3-percent increase, Android enjoyed a 10.9-percent increase, while iOS dropped 4.8-percent and BlackBerry users lost interest at an incredible 47.6-percent.

When it comes to traffic by device, it is amazing to see that Desktop watchers are at 44-percent and Phone watchers actually edge it out at 45-percent…it must be why displays are growing larger and larger.  Tablets bring up a distant third at only 11-percent – that is the one device that I would have guessed would have held the number one position.  As far as change in usage by device over the past year – Desktop PCs have decreased as the tool of choice by 13-percent.  Smartphones increased in usage by 12-percent and tablets grew 20-percent.  I also listed the three top countries by device as well and you can see that between the US, the UK and Canada, the decreases in PCs and increases in smartphones and tables was fairly consistent.

Even the Game Console traffic is increasing – Xbox is number one at 45.7-percent, followed by Playstation at 40-percent, Nintendo Wii (WEEEEE!) is third at 8.2-percent, PS Vita at 5-percent and Nintendo 3DS at 1.1-percent.  Playstation is the only one that lost viewers last year with a decrease of 36.8-percent, Nintendo 3DS increased 11.8-percent, PS Vita was up 57.3-percent, Nintendo Wii was up 69.6-percent and Xbox was up a whopping 70.5-percent!  They are not just for gaming anymore!

To help put things in perspective – Pornhub is the world’s number one porn site…but remember there are thousands more…and it had 78.9 BILLION videos viewed and 18.35 BILLION visits or a whopping 5,800 visits per SECOND!  In the US, December is the most popular month for viewing porn and March is the least favorite while Monday is the most popular day, Friday the least popular.  They also list how long the average visit is by country with the US at 9 minutes and 40 seconds – right about the average of 9 minutes and 16 seconds worldwide.  Nepal is longest visit at 13 minutes and 39 seconds and Azerbaijan is shortest at 6 minutes and 26 seconds…not exactly sure how to read that one!  Also, in the US, eight of the ten states with the longest durations are from the south – I guess things really move slower in the south?

We are willing to give up porn for certain holidays – Christmas Eve is down 38 percent and Christmas Day is down 18-percent, Easter Sunday is down 11-percent and New Year’s Eve is down 44-percent, but New Year’s Day is only down 7-percent.  Sports also affects our viewing – during the World Cup Final, porn watching was down 42-percent and in the US, viewing is down 13-percent during the Super Bowl, but only down 4-percent for the NBA Finals…All very interesting (or is it disturbing) stuff!
