U.S. Cellular is tweaking some of the prepaid plans, lowering prices and offering more for less. Their basic Simple Connect Prepaid plan is now only $40 and offers unlimited minutes, data, and messaging. That doesn’t get you high speed data, so you’ll probably want to upgrade to at least the $45 plan that includes unlimited minutes, messaging, and data and also nets you 1GB of high speed data. 2GB of high speed data, with all of the rest, is $55. For $65, you get 4GB of high speed data with unlimited everything else. These are not bad prices if you’re in a market that U.S. Cellular covers.
U.S. Cellular is also offering up a $50 prepaid gift card that new Simple Connect Prepaid subscribers can use towards their bill. If you’ve been looking to get out from the under the tyranny of Verizon, or just looking to save some money on your monthly cell phone bill, USCC is offering some good options right now. They also have a $35 Ready Connect Plan that just gives you the basics of unlimited minutes, messaging, and mobile web, but it’s only $35 a month.
USCC has national coverage through roaming agreements, and doesn’t have 4G LTE in all of the markets they cover. They are a regional carrier, but they are the fifth largest wireless carrier in the nation and they have a pretty large footprint. Their headquarters are in Chicago, Illinois, and they have stores in the North and Midwest of the country. They have stores in 26 states and have just under 5 million customers. They’re coverage map says you’ll have signal just about anywhere you go, with the roaming agreements they have in place with other major carriers in the U.S. If you’re looking to make the jump to U.S. Cellular, they have some decent deals on phones too. The newer Moto G with 4G LTE support is only $49.99 on their website or you can snag a Galaxy S4 for $299. They have the Note Edge and Nexus 6 now, too.
