Xiaomi Employees Saw The Upcoming Flagship For The First Time, This Is How They Reacted

Xiaomi’s January 15 event in less than two days away, we’ve been seeing a ton of leaks, rumors, reports… lately, especially the last couple of days. Xiaomi has been releasing teasers non-stop as well, and just added some confusion to the table. The company will almost certainly release their Redmi Note 2 affordable handset on January 15 according to their puzzle teaser in which they basically announced the launch of that device. What is unclear at this point is if the company intends to launch the Mi4S successor alongside the Redmi Note 2. Xiaomi’s CEO did say that they’ll launch their flagship handset on January 15, but Xiaomi regarded the Redmi Note 2 as the “flagship” phone in the aforementioned puzzle teaser, so we’re utterly confused at this point.

Anyhow, we have some new material to share with you, posted by MIUI ROM (Xiaomi’s official channel) on YouTube. This video is entitled “When Xiaomi Employees first saw the new flagship” and it basically shows us the initial reactions of Xiaomi employees after taking a first glimpse at the upcoming device. We, of course, have no idea what are they looking at, but if the reactions were legit, this phone really looks great. Every single one of them was utterly shocked when they saw the device, though don’t get your hopes all the way up just yet though, let’s wait for January 15 and see if these reactions are in place. In the meantime, take a look at this video yourself, it is embedded down below.

Regarding the Mi5 rumors, we’ve seen a lot of stuff, but let’s concentrate on the specs of this thing. According to numerous leaks and rumors, this handset will feature a 5.2-6″ 1080p or quadHD display, 3 or 4GB of RAM and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 or 810 processor. 13-megapixel OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) camera has also been mentioned, same goes for an IR blaster which will reportedly be included as well. The phone will most likely be made out of aluminum, or some sort of metal, and a curved display has also been mentioned several times. It remains to be seen how many of these rumors are true, of course. 5.2, 5.5, 5.7 and 6-inch displays have been mentioned, so it’s really hard to filter through all that, but I really doubt Xiaomi will jump from a 5-inch to a 6-inch display, if I had to guess I’d say this thing will sport a 5.2 or a 5.5-inch screen. The latest report also said that the device will cost 2,299 Yuan ($370), which would be great all things considered. Thoughts?
