Yesterday was definitely Xiaomi’s day, as far as the mobile technology goes at least. The company held an event in Beijing where they announced four new devices, including the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro phablets. We’ve covered that content at length, so check that out if you’re interested. These are great devices and I’m sure they will sell extremely well in China once Xiaomi makes them available, the Mi Note will be available before the end of this month, and the Mi Note Pro might be a bit late to the party, but the dates haven’t been confirmed just yet.
Anyhow, we’re not here to talk about the Mi Note nor Mi Note Pro, but another Xiaomi-made device which got certified recently. In case you don’t remember, I’m talking about the Leadcore-powered, ultra affordable Xiaomi device. A new report arrived from China from stating that the device will launch in February. The specific date wasn’t shared with us, but it seems like it won’t cost 399 Yuan ($64) as we originally though, but it won’t be much more expensive either. According to this report, this handset will cost 499 Yuan in China, which is only about $80, a bit more than we originally thought, but still extremely affordable.
According to TENAA (China’s equivalent of the FCC), this handset will feature a 4.7-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It will be powered by Leadcore’s LC1860C quad-core chip which is clocked at 1.6GHz and will ship with Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS on top of it. This Leadcore chip comes with Mali T628 GPU for graphics processing and is based on 28nm manufacturing process, Cortex-A7 architecture. 8 and 2-megapixel cameras will be located on the back and front of this handset, respectively.
This handset looks like the already announced Redmi 2 handset, even its specifications are almost the same, except for the processor, of course. This thing is powered by a Leadcore chip, instead of the Snapdragon 410 which is powering the Redmi 2. This fact makes this device somewhat cheaper, though I’d still recommend you go with the Redmi 2 instead of this, if you can of course. Anyhow, we’re waiting for some additional information regarding this device’s launch, stay tuned.
