ZTE was rather quiet for the past couple of months, which was kind of odd, but the company has just unveiled a new smartphone. The Blade S6 4G LTE is ZTE’s newest smartphone, this thing features a 5-inch 720p IPS display along with 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 SoC, a 64-bit octa-core processor is powering on this handset along with an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics rendering. 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of this device along with and LED flash, and a 5-megapixel snapper is available up front. The Blade S6 measures 144 x 70.7 x 7.7mm and it ships with a 2,400mAh battery with ZTE’s skin on top of it. This is also a dual-SIM device (2 x nano SIM) and it offers 4G LTE connectivity.. Android 5.0 will come pre-installed on this device with ZTE’s UI on top of it, of course.
Talking about ZTE’s UI, it’s called MiFavor 3.0 UI and it offers a lot of software features here. Let’s start with gestures, this UI brings forth ZTE’s “Smart Sense”, which is essentially a set of gesture and motion controls. For example, you can flick your wrist in order to fire up the flashlight, which is a quick and simple way to get some light if you need it quickly. This UI also offers other gestures for music control, activating the device’s built-in mirror application, etc. This UI also lets you customize a lot of stuff in order to fit your needs, aside from gestures that is.
The device also comes with Hi-Fi sound capability and will be available in a Silver or Pink matte finish. “In line with our product portfolio plan, we very much sought to push the envelope with the Blade S6, and to do so in a way that would appeal to youths, as well as those with active social lives. With its small package and powerful capabilities, the Blade S6 is the dream device for the socially active consumers and a clear demonstration of ZTE’s ability to offer a premium smartphone at an affordable price.” said Adam Zeng Xuezhong, Executive Vice President of ZTE Corporation and CEO of ZTE Mobile Devices.
ZTE Blade S6 will cost $249.99 at launch and will be available soon globally via AliExpress, while Amazon and eBay will also offer the device in select markets. The device will also be available via Qool International Ltd, Suning, Dreams Team, Sun Shine Telecom, Cyber Telecom, 188 Digital.com, Pak Lik and I Mobile in Hong Kong.
