Kudos to Mohammed Al Khafaji who is the winner of our inaugural bi-weekly photo contest! This photo, taken with a Google Nexus 5 in the region of Beauchamp, France and shows an absolutely stunning sunset. As seen in our most recent Android Photography tips sunsets can be rather difficult to capture the true essence of without editing, but Mohammed Al Khafaji has absolutely done it here! The silhouetted horizon contrasts beautifully with the brilliant colors of the sky and the wafts of clouds streaming overhead. The Nexus 5 is probably the most underrated camera on any smartphone and turned from a mediocre shooter at the phone’s launch to something truly special after a couple of software updates.
Now we look ahead toward the next challenge for the rest of the month of February. Winter is in full force right now in the Northern Hemisphere, especially in parts of the US where record snowfall has made lives rather interesting for residents. While some are likely sick of the snow by now and are waiting impatiently for Spring, there’s still plenty of beauty to behold in the Winter landscape. It’s the capture of this beauty that we’re going to ask for this time around on the AH Photography challenge competition, so get those smartphones ready and go find the most glorious looking landscape or subject in the vast snowy horizon.
Just like the previous challenge we’re going to have to ask to keep this one to smartphones only, showcasing the power of the latest smartphone sensors and the SoC’s that power them. Post any picture of something winter themed over the next two weeks on Google+, Pinterest or Instagram and simply tag it with the #ahphotography2015 hashtag so we can easily find it when it’s ready to choose a winner. Depending on the number of entries we may feature one or more photos, so get those pictures made and don’t forget to show it off to everyone. You’ll be featured in the next contest post which will go out near the end of the first week in March. Your claim to fame may be close at hand, so don’t forget to enter, and of course we look forward to seeing through your eyes in the near future!
