Micromax is probably India’s best-known smartphone manufacturer. This company releases a ton of smartphones a year, though they’re mostly releasing low and mid-range devices as part of their “Canvas” Android line. This India-based company has announced their Lollipop update plans, and those of you who own one of their Canvas phones might be interested in hearing this. Anyhow, let’s see what’s what.
The Micromax Canvas Xpress (A99), a mid-ranger which got announced back in December, has already got the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Other Canvas-branded smartphones will follow, though the company did not provide any sort of a timeframe for the update. “As a brand, we are committed to keep our customers delighted with best in class technologies and experience. Riding on the same thought, we are today rolling out the Android L update with Canvas Xpress, making the overall user experience more efficient and seamless. Micromax thrives on consumer centricity and that is clearly visible through the company’s continued growth trajectory and high recall in consumer mind share,” said Micromax Informatics’ spokesperson.
In case you own the Canvas Xpress (A99) smartphone, the update should already be available. Wait for the notification that will let you know the update is ready for download and install, or check whether the update is available manually. You can do that by going into Settings – About Phone – Software Update. Micromax will hopefully release some sort of a Lollipop timeframe soon in order to let us know which devices will follow the Canvas Xpress (A99). It is always possible we won’t be seeing that sort of thing though, perhaps they intend to release the update for the rest of the device soon, in which case you’ll be notified by your Canvas-branded device, and we’ll make sure to let you know as well, so stay tuned for that.
