Android Lollipop Rolling Out To Samsung Galaxy Note 4 In South Korea

Samsung is initiating yet another roll out of Android Lollipop for the high end Galaxy Note 4. This time the manufacturer is gracing the good people of South Korea with this delight, shortly after a Poland release.  Titled build number N910SKSU1BOB4, the Android 5.0.1 update will be slowly released to the Galaxy Note 4 owners subscribed to SK Telecom’s network. The update will most likely be released on all other major carries as well in due time. Anxious South Korean owners who do not wish to wait for an over-the-air update can load the firmware through the Samsung Kies software now.

With recent news that Samsung will drop the Snapdragon 810 from Galaxy S6 production, it is intriguing that only the Galaxy Note 4 Exynos powered variant is receiving the update. A complete opposite from their usual updating schedule, it appears to be related with the decision to some extent. After some reports of overheating Snapdragon 810 chips and some speculation of Qualcomm losing one of its larger business partners, it would appear Samsung is placing higher precedence on their on Exynos powered devices. With additional reports stating the Galaxy S6 will use the Exynos 7420, and that Samsung is continuing their Exynos line a lot could change in 2015. With updated hardware designs featuring a more metallic body combined with their high end, in house chips Samsung could raise the competition.

This latest update for Samsung’s top end flagship phone the Galaxy Note 4 brings not only Google’s latest operating system, but other improvements for Samsung’s apps and experience as well. The newest Lollipop update from Samsung will bring with it an updated user interface as well as heads-up notifications, lock screen notifications, improved battery life, and a performance boost. While Samsung has kept their TouchWiz interface overlay on Android Lollipop, the interface and apps do conform a bit more with Google’s Material Design. All of that summed together makes a pretty sweet update for Galaxy Note 4 owners. While this release is not for the Galaxy Note 4 owners in America, rolling out the update globally indicates that it is on the horizon.
